Each month I host a small crafting day with my girlfriends where we eat, drink, laugh, & craft.
This month was my favorite craft we have done so far… xoxo letters for Valentine’s day.
The letters are paper mache from Hobby Lobby online, found here.
{Or Papier-mâché if we are being fancy}
Here is the setup for the girls to pick their paper to paper mache onto the letters. The paper is from Paper Source in various pinks, reds, & golds. I could go crazy in that store and for the sake of my marriage should not go without a chaperon.
{Eventually I have big plans to refinish that buffet… I’m thinking a bright color in a high gloss. Thoughts?}
I laid out the letters for the ladies on my dining room table {covered with kraft paper from the dollar tree & heart wrapping paper runner from target dollar bins!} and put supplies in cute buckets in the middle of the table. The kraft runner is not only darling but really easy to roll up and toss when crafting is over. Mess free, yes please!
How cute are scissors in mason jars?
Here are the steps that I used.
{We made xoxo letters but I also think that spelling out love or kiss would be cute, too}
Trace letters on the back of paper with a pencil {pen might run through} and cut letters out on the inside of the line.
{The nice thing about using XOXO is that the letters can be read from any side, but if you use other letters make sure that when you are tracing the letters that you tracing them backwards to have the pretty side of the paper on the front of the letter}
Using a foam brush, modge podge on both the back of the paper & the front of the letter.
{I used matte modge podge – easy to find at any craft store}
Next, modge podge over the front and sides of the letter to seal the paper on.
{If the edges hang over a little bit you can trim them or leave it – I left mine}
Let them dry and admire your new pretties.
I used the leftover paper to create bunting to match my letters and am in l.o.v.e. with how it turned out.
{To make the bunting…. cut paper into square-ish rectangles (I like them being different sizes) and notch out a triangle in the bottom. Cut a piece of bakers twine (or whatever you have on hand) to your desired length then hot glue twine to the back of the paper. Make sure that you space them evenly & use a toothpick to press twine into hot glue – save your fingers!}
I love the pops of pink that this brings into our house.
What letters would you make … xoxo, or love, or something else?

I lalalalove this! I will be making a PEACE one for my room. =) And I will be looking at your blob regularly! I love your vintage looking style!
