For my husband’s 30th birthday I threw a surprise-ish party. {Yes, surprise-ish is a word. It means that someone knows that they are having a party but that the theme is a surprise. Yes, surprise-ish.}
Anyway, this party was a beer tasting party. My hubby loves good craft beer {and has started brewing his own!} so I thought tasting lots of different brews would be perfect. Plus, beer is fun to cook with too.
Invitations are one of my favorite parts of party planning. I know I’ve said this before but I love getting a beautiful invite in the mail. That being said, most of these were hand delivered instead of mailed. I was not about to blow my budget mailing these beauties!
I soaked the labels off of various craft beers and then re-labeled them with the party details. Labels can be printed on sticker paper and slapped on a cute bottle {or watercolor beer bottle, more on that later}. The sides of the label contained more details, such as our address.
{Oops blurry picture. Note to self – next time take photos before beer tasting. Just kidding. Kind of}
Each bottle had a note attached asking everyone to bring a chilled six pack of beer to share. It was really fun to see all of the different favorites that people brought, and really helpful for fridge space to have them pre-chilled.
The invites that went in the mail were the same labels as the bottles but slapped on a watercolored paper beer bottle. I just did a wash of a few different browns on watercolor paper and cut them into beer bottle shaped. Easy and cute.
{I also tied the twine and please-bring-beer tags onto the paper bottles}
I used the same twine from the invitations and craft paper {leftover from our wedding} to make this cheers sign to hang above the bar.
These beer bottles have their bottoms cut off and a tea light inside. Darling, right?
{This was about as cutesy as I got. I tried keeping in man-cave ish}
This beer print was in the crate & barrel catalog. I just ripped it out and put it in a frame. Score!
Check back Thursday to see more details and beer pairing recipes.
Cheers!

Wow, Jess! You give the best parties. Thanks for being such an inspiration!
Love ya!
Love the theme and all the details. well done, you! The C&B beer print is probably my favorite. Gotta go rifling through magazines now — I think such a thing would be perfect in my new office! Cheers indeed! xo
Thanks, Jennifer! That print has now found a new home in our office/brewery (Chris’ new hobby – and he’s quite good at it!). Hope you are able to track one down. I’m thinking it was in the 2012 holiday catalog. Enjoy!
